Citizens Financial Group Awards 3-Month, Paid Sabbatical To Groton, Connecticut Branch Manager

Kim Winkleman to work at The Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern Connecticut

New London, Conn. (April 1, 2011) Ned Handy, president of Citizens Bank for Connecticut and Rhode Island announced today that Kim Winkleman, the manager of the Groton branch and a 14-year colleague of the bank, is the 2011 Citizens Financial Group Community Service Sabbatical recipient for Connecticut.

Starting on April 1, Winkleman will work full-time at the Boys and Girls Club of Southeastern Connecticut, where she has served on the board of directors for the past two years.

“The CFG Community Service Sabbatical is a unique colleague benefit offered by Citizens and a great opportunity for an individual to make a significant impact on a nonprofit,” said Handy.  “While we are investing the time and talents of our colleagues with a local organization, we are also gaining a greater understanding of the communities we serve.”

During her sabbatical, Winkelman will work on marketing, fundraising and board development.  She will also continue the important work of expanding the programs offered by the Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern Connecticut into new communities, including Norwich, with the ambitious goal of doubling the number of kids served by the organization from approximately 800 to 1,600.

Every year, a colleague in each market of the 12-state Citizens Financial Group footprint is given the opportunity to work with a nonprofit organization full time while retaining their full compensation and benefits.  Since 1994, nearly 100 CFG colleagues have been awarded community service sabbaticals.
