CFG Chairman & Chief Executive Officer Ellen Alemany elected to National Constitution Center Board of Trustees
PHILADELPHIA (February 4, 2011) - Citizens Financial Group, Inc. Chairman and CEO Ellen Alemany has been elected to a three-year term on the Board of Trustees of the National Constitution Center. The board is led by former President William J. Clinton.
“Citizens Financial Group represents the finest in corporate citizenship, and its ‘Good Banking is Good Citizenship’ brand perfectly aligns with our mission,” said National Constitution Center President and CEO David Eisner. “We are thrilled to have Ellen join our Board of Trustees, and look forward to benefiting from the passion and insight that she shows every day as the leader of Citizens Financial Group."
The National Constitution Center is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization in Philadelphia dedicated to increasing public understanding of the U.S. Constitution and the ideas and values it represents. The Center serves as a museum, an education center and a forum for debate on constitutional issues. The museum dramatically tells the story of the Constitution from Revolutionary times to the present through more than 100 interactive, multimedia exhibits, film, photographs, text, sculpture and artifacts.
“I am proud to join the Board of Trustees of the National Constitution Center and to support the work of the center,” said Alemany. “Citizens Bank stands for good citizenship and there is no better place to provide civic education, to increase awareness and to promote our democracy than the National Constitution Center.”
Alemany is a member of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group’s Executive Committee, which is the RBS Group’s nine-member executive leadership team. Alemany’s positions make her the only woman responsible for one of the top 12 commercial banking companies in the United States.
In September 2010, Alemany was listed 13th on U.S. Banker’s list of The 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking. In August 2009, Forbes magazine ranked Alemany 57th on its annual list of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women.
An active member of the community, Alemany serves on the board of the Center for Discovery and is a member of the Providence College Business Advisory Council.
