Free community admission on January 17, underwritten by Citizens Bank Foundation
PITTSBURGH (January 6, 2011) - The Citizens Bank Foundation announced today that it has partnered with the August Wilson Center for African American Culture to provide free admission to community members on Monday, January 17, for “Martin Luther King Jr. Day at the August Wilson Center” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Dr. Martin Luther King dedicated his life to freedom of expression for all people,” said Ralph J. Papa, Chairman of Citizens Bank of Pennsylvania. “The Citizens Bank Foundation is proud to treat the community to free admission at the August Wilson Center, where freedom of expression is celebrated every day. The August Wilson Center is a wonderful Pittsburgh resource designed to serve as a hub for people celebrating and experiencing the contributions of African Americans.”
“The Citizens Bank Foundation is most generous to underwrite a free community day at the August Wilson Center,” said André Kimo Stone Guess President and CEO of the August Wilson Center. “We are especially pleased that we can offer children and families off from work and school an enjoyable, educational and engaging way to spend the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday together. This free day gives everyone the opportunity to celebrate and experience the contributions of African Americans to music, theater, dance and many other aspects of American life while creating their own memories through a wide array of hands-on activities.”
Throughout the day, free day attendees will be able to enjoy the center’s exhibition galleries, arts and crafts, movie screenings, a special performance from the August Wilson Center Dance Ensemble and much more.
