Citizens Bank names Connecticut Association for Human Services its newest Champion in Action
NEW LONDON, CONN. (April 28, 2010) - Citizens Bank has announced that the Connecticut Association for Human Services of Hartford has been recognized as a Champion in Action® for the second quarter of 2010 in the area of family support.
The award was announced by Citizens Bank, during an on-air segment of the noon newscast on WTNH earlier today. The award includes a $25,000 grant from the Citizens Bank Foundation.
“The Connecticut Association for Human Services is a perfect fit for the Champions in Action program. The direction and advocacy provided by CAHS help hard-working families across the state every day and we are proud to support the important work they’ve done so well for almost a century,” said Chris Riley, director of public affairs for Citizens Bank in Connecticut.
CAHS is a highly regarded community advocate and leader, committed to working for changes in policies to promote a strong economy, strengthen our workforce and reduce poverty. The organization champions important issues through research, advocacy and policy development with a special focus on family economic security, hunger, health care, child care, education, employment and community development.
“The Connecticut Association for Human Services works to ensure that residents across our state have the opportunity to lead healthy and productive lives. We remain committed to improving the programs that help families in need throughout Connecticut,” said James P. Horan, executive director of CAHS.
Champions in Action is a partnership between Citizens Bank and WTNH / MyTV 9, launched in 2002, to provide financial support and public awareness to the nonprofit organizations that work every day to champion change in our communities.
Each quarter, a nonprofit organization among a range of social service topics in Connecticut is recognized as a Champion in Action. Each champion in action receives the following support in addition to the $25,000 grant from the Citizens Bank Foundation:
• Media coverage from News Channel 8/MyTV9, including public service announcements.
• Volunteer support from both Citizens Bank and News Channel 8/MyTV9.
• Public relations support and promotional support through visibility at Citizen Bank branches and
citizensbank.com.
