Citizens Bank and the University of Rhode Island announce Community Team Bench partnership
Kingston, R.I. (January 22, 2010) - Citizens Bank has announced it is partnering with the University of Rhode Island on a Citizens Bank Community Team Bench program that provides tickets for each game to youth basketball teams from across Rhode Island.
"This partnership gives younger basketball players the opportunity to see some of their favorite URI players in action," said Ned Handy, President, Citizens Bank, Rhode Island. "These players are role models to our youth and we are proud to provide them with the opportunity to attend URI home games."
As a part of this partnership, local youth basketball teams will receive 15 tickets to URI Men’s basketball home games and will be able to high-five each Rhody Ram Player as they take to the court for the game during opening ceremonies. Each participating youth will also receive a co-branded Citizens Bank/Rhody Rams T-shirt and the teams will be recognized on the video scoreboard during the game.
"The Citizens Bank Community Team Bench program brings young people to URI and allows them to start thinking about their future educational plans and goals. We are happy to partner with Citizens Bank on this program as they continue to be a great partner of URI Athletics," said University of Rhode Island Athletic Director Thorr Bjorn.
