Martin Luther King Jr. Day declared free day at August Wilson Center
Free admission on January 18 underwritten by Citizens Bank Foundation
PITTSBURGH (January 13, 2010) - The Citizens Charitable Foundation announced today that it has partnered with the August Wilson Center to provide free admission on Monday, January 18 for “Martin Luther King Jr. Day at the August Wilson Center” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Dr. Martin Luther King dedicated his life to freedom of expression for all people,” said Ralph J. Papa, Chairman of Citizens Bank of Pennsylvania. “The Citizens Bank Foundation is proud to treat our community to free admission at the new August Wilson Center, where freedom of expression is celebrated every day. More than a museum, the August Wilson Center is a wonderful Pittsburgh resource designed to serve as a hub for people celebrating and experiencing the contributions of African Americans.”

Harris, Interim President and CEO of the August Wilson Center. “We are especially pleased that we can offer children and families off from work and school an enjoyable and edifying way to spend the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday together. This free day gives everyone the opportunity to celebrate and experience the contributions of African Americans in music, theater, dance, science, athletics, business and many other aspects of American life.”
Free Day attendees will have an opportunity to tour the exhibit galleries, listen to storytellers and participate in arts and crafts, including sculpting with clay. In addition, a film about Dr. Martin Luther King will be shown in the state-of-the-art Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Education Center. Volunteers from PUMP (Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project) will be on hand to help with activities for the entire family.
