Citizens Enhances Consumer Onboarding Experience, Rolls Out New Digital Features
Enhancements designed to help customers seamlessly switch their banking relationship and create new savings habits this holiday season and beyond
Providence, RI (November 19, 2024) − Customers will be able to more seamlessly set up accounts and manage their finances, creating a clear, accessible path to financial empowerment, using a series of digital enhancements announced by Citizens today. The company also introduced an enhanced digital onboarding experience and new capabilities making it easier and faster for customers to open accounts, set up direct deposit, save money and schedule an appointment with a financial advisor, relationship manager or banker.

To this end, Citizens has rolled out several new features to enhance the digital experience for new and existing customers:
- Enhanced Digital Onboarding: Streamlined and user-friendly, the enhanced mobile onboarding experience simplifies the process for new customers to join Citizens, ensuring a seamless and welcoming start to their financial journey at Citizens. Right from the mobile app, customers can easily fund their account, enable biometric settings, set up direct deposit, and add a debit card to their digital wallet to easily make payments right from their mobile device.
- Advanced Appointment Scheduling: Customers can now easily request digitally online an appointment by phone, video or in-person with a financial advisor or Private Client Relationship Manager to discuss complex financial needs and receive personalized guidance at their convenience. A Citizens Checkup is another simple, convenient way to schedule an in-person or phone appointment with a local banker within the Citizens mobile app.
- Citizens Savings Tracker™: This tool helps customers set and achieve personal savings goals, by providing real-time tracking and personalized insights. Customers can also enroll in automatic transfers, round up debit card purchases to the nearest dollar and set up one-time and recurring transfers.
- Checking Account Benefits Calculator: The more customers save, spend and borrow with Citizens, the more benefits, discounts and rewards they can unlock. Our innovative calculator helps customers find the right checking account and calculate potential benefits and savings.
- Virtual Digital Assistant: Available 24/7, CiZi, a virtual financial assistant, provides instant, personalized banking support using AI capabilities within the Citizens mobile app. The enhanced digital experience guides customers through a wide range of services, including helping set up direct deposit in seconds and add a debit card to their digital wallet.
Additional features will launch in early 2025, including the ability to track progress toward most promotions on the Citizens mobile app.
Over the past three years, Citizens has introduced other capabilities to empower customers and add value to their daily lives, including Citizens Paid Early™, a complimentary service that allows customers with a personal checking, savings or Money Market account to receive direct deposits up to two days early. Citizens’ customers get earlier access to these deposits, helping them avoid overdraft fees and get a head start on paying bills. The company also introduced Citizens Peace Of Mind™, a deposit feature providing customers with the ability to avoid the expense of unexpected overdraft fees in 2021.
