Citizens Bank Awards Six ‘Small Business Community Champions’ for Strengthening Local Economies and Communities

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Citizens Bank today announced its Small Business Community Champion Award winners in Greater Boston, Greater Philadelphia and Greater Pittsburgh. A $20,000 prize and a $10,000 prize were awarded in each market to small business owners who demonstrated how investing in their businesses strengthens both their business growth and the community.

The 2018 Citizens Bank Small Business Community Champion Award winners are:

  • Baudelaire, Inc. (Swanzey, NH), a soap and body-care products company, which plans to expand its StartSmart partnership to help educate new parents about supporting early brain development.
  • Eyes on Worcester (Worcester, MA), an optometry group, which plans to launch its Pediatric Mobile Clinic to provide access to eye examinations to children in need.
  • LUHV FOOD (Hatboro, PA), a vegan and gluten-free food manufacturer, which plans to start the LUHV Bistro program to provide 200 meals to local food pantries each month.
  • Paramount Co-Op (Ambridge, PA), a business incubator, which plans to put funds toward counseling and supporting eight entrepreneurs for a year as they start or build their businesses.
  • Tri-Pillar Development LLC (Aliquippa, PA), a lower-income housing rental company, which plans to put funds toward its continued purchase and repair program that provides homes for tenants and revitalizes local neighborhoods.
  • Volunteer Brewing Company (Middletown, DE), a small brewery, which plans to renovate a space that can serve as a hub for community programs and gatherings.
