Citizens Charitable Foundation Announces $250,000 in Grants To Non-Profits
Donations across Bank’s Footprint Funded by Colleague, Leadership
Donations
PROVIDENCE, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
The Citizens Charitable Foundation today announced the recipients for
nearly $250,000 in grants to non-profit organizations serving those in
need across the communities served by the bank.
Funding for the grants resulted from donations to the Foundation made by
Citizens colleagues during its annual payroll giving campaign as well as
$200,000 in personal donations pledged by the bank’s senior leadership
team at the end of 2016.
“The commitment demonstrated by our colleagues to their communities by
making these donations is commendable,” said Barbara Cottam, Chairman of
the Citizens Charitable Foundation. “These grants will fund great
organizations that are working hard every day to make a difference and
to help people reach their potential.”
Citizens Bank colleagues voted on which organizations to support across
the bank’s priority giving areas: financial literacy, fighting hunger,
and strengthening communities. Each organization proposed specific plans
for using grant funds to help those they serve.
In Rhode Island, for example, Children’s Friend will use the funds to
provide critical ongoing care, assessment, and connections to community
resources for families through its First Connections program. In
Massachusetts, Year Up plans to use its grant to help serve 560 young
adults through various education programs. In Eastern Pennsylvania,
Philabundance plans to leverage the gift to support its hunger relief
operations, which provide food to 90,000 people weekly in the Delaware
Valley.
Citizens supports employee efforts to give back to their communities
through a variety of programs that include payroll giving, matching
gifts and volunteerism. Last year, Citizens colleagues contributed more
than 89,000 hours of volunteer time in their communities. More
information regarding our community programs can be found here.
