Citizens Bank recognized as Adoption-Friendly Workplace by Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Recognizing Citizens Bank’s  commitment to helping colleagues build or add to their families through adoption, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption has awarded the bank top honors as an Adoption-Friendly Workplace. Citizens ranked first among financial service companies and second among all companies recognized by the foundation. This is the ninth time that Citizens has been named to the list.

Citizens is proud to offer adoption-related assistance to both colleagues and customers.  For colleagues, the company offers both financial assistance — as much as $23,400 toward eligible adoption expenses and fees — and up to one week of paid leave per adoption. For customers, Citizens provides financing solutions for families who plan to adopt children through a unique partnership with the National Adoption Foundation.

“We are pleased to be recognized once again by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption,” said Susan LaMonica, chief human resources officer, Citizens Bank. “Adopting a child is an exciting but complex process. Our industry-leading adoption benefits and resources give colleagues the time necessary to bring a child into their family and assist with the high cost of adoption.”

Adoption-Friendly Workplaces are determined by an analysis of financial assistance and paid leave available to families who adopt, based on surveys completed by employers. Breakout lists are available noting America’s top 100 adoption-friendly employers, the top 10 by size, and the leaders in each industry.

“We’re committed to dramatically increasing the number of adoptions from foster care, and commend all employers who support families – especially those that grow their families through adoption,” said Rita Soronen, president and CEO of the Foundation. “We are so grateful to every company that has adoption-friendly benefits in place, and we’re honored to recognize them as an Adoption-Friendly Workplace.”
