Bruce Figueroa Named Head of Citizens Bank’s NonProfit Banking Division

Regional team leaders for group serving nonprofit organizations also named

BOSTON – Citizens Bank announced today that Bruce Figueroa has been named Head of NonProfit Banking, a division mainly serving the education, hospital and human services sectors.

A veteran banker with nearly 30 years of experience, Figueroa joined Citizens in 1994 to help build the company’s NonProfit banking team in Massachusetts. The NonProfit Banking division now includes about 50 colleagues working across Citizens’ 11-state retail footprint.

“Bruce is an experienced professional who has delivered terrific service and value-added ideas to our customers,” said Jerry Sargent, Head of Middle Market Banking at Citizens. “He is a key leader on the Citizens Bank team and we are happy to have him now play an expanded role as we continue to grow our NonProfit business group across our footprint.” 

Citizens’ NonProfit Banking group is widely recognized in the market as one of the leading nonprofit lenders of credit enhancement for public-issue bonds and direct purchase of tax-exempt private placement bonds. 

Active in the local community, Figueroa currently serves as a board member for the Children’s Investment Fund and the Walnut Hill School for the Arts and as a finance committee member for the Dimock Center.

Citizens today also announced an expanded role for Irene Hannon, NonProfit Banking team leader for Pennsylvania. In addition to Pennsylvania, she also is now responsible for leading the teams serving nonprofit oganizations in Ohio, Michigan and Illinois. Erik Jones will become the Team Leader for NonProfit Banking in Northern New England and Patrick Donnelly will become the Team Leader for NonProfit Banking in New York, Connecticut and Rhode Island. Each will report directly to Figueroa.
