Citizens Financial Group Appoints Mark Casady and Robert Gillespie to Board of Directors
PROVIDENCE, RI (August 15, 2014) – Citizens Financial Group Inc. today announced the appointment of two new members to its board of directors – Mark Casady, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the largest U.S. independent broker/dealer, LPL Financial, and Robert Gillespie, a non-executive director for Citizens’ parent, The Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc (RBS).

As RBS’s nominated director, Robert joins the board well-versed in our strategy and he also brings extensive industry knowledge and significant regulatory expertise. Casady, LPL’s chairman and CEO since 2005, joined the firm in May 2002 as chief operating officer, becoming president in 2003. Previously, Casady was managing director, mutual fund group for Deutsche Asset Management, Americas — formerly Scudder Investments. Prior to Scudder, he held roles at Concord Financial Group and at Northern Trust. Casady currently serves on the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) board of governors and is a member of the board of the Financial Services Roundtable, EZE Software Group, and Cushing Academy. He is also a former chairman of the Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) and has served on the executive committee of the Investment Company Institute board of governors. Casady received his B.S. from Indiana University and his M.B.A. from DePaul University.
Gillespie began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he qualified as a chartered accountant. He then moved into banking, joining SG Warburg, where he specialized in corporate finance and in 1989 was appointed co-head and managing director of its US investment banking business. Following the acquisition of Warburg by UBS in 1995, he then held the roles of head of UK corporate finance, head of European corporate finance, co-head of its global business and CEO of the EMEA region. He relinquished his management roles at the end of 2005 and was appointed vice chairman of UBS Investment Bank. Robert left UBS to join Evercore Partners, from where he was seconded to the UK Panel on Takeovers and Mergers, as director general, from 2010 to 2013. He joined the RBS Group board of directors in 2013.
