Renee Carney receives Citizens Bank’s Citizens Helping Citizens Volunteer Award
Nashua teller volunteers hundreds of hours with area nonprofits
Manchester, NH (December 11, 2013) – Citizens Bank announced it has given its annual Citizens Helping Citizens Volunteer Award to Renee Carney, senior teller at the Nashua Coliseum branch, for her outstanding commitment to the community. As part of the award, the Citizens Bank Foundation will contribute $2,500 to Carney’s charity of choice. Previously known as the Be Inspired Award, the honor was renamed to align with Citizens Helping Citizens, the bank’s program that strives to enhance quality of life and economic vitality in local communities.
“It is because of Renee’s inspiring dedication to the community and her tireless efforts to go above and beyond in her professional and personal endeavors that we proudly award her this honor,” said Joe Carelli, President of Citizens Bank and RBS Citizens New Hampshire. “Renee embodies Citizens’ spirit of giving, contributing more than 200 hours of community service in 2013 to organizations across Southern New Hampshire.”
Carney volunteers as a coach for two Nashua Crusaders youth cheerleading teams. On a monthly basis, she volunteers for the Caregivers Caring Cupboard, delivering groceries and spending time with seniors who aren’t able to get to the store or don’t have family in the area to take care of them. Each year, Carney participates in the 24-hour Relay for Life, raising money and awareness for the American Cancer Society.
The surprise award was recently presented to Carney at the Nashua Coliseum branch of Citizens Bank.
“Each year, Citizens Bank honors a volunteer or a group of volunteers who perform exemplary service to the community with this award,” said Carelli, “and with a contribution to the nonprofit organization of the recipient’s choice.”
Carney selected American Youth Football, Inc. (Nashua Crusaders), which will receive $1,500; and the American Cancer Society, which will receive $1,000.
The annual award was created in 2007 by RBS Citizens Financial Group, Inc. to honor volunteers who perform exemplary service in the communities where Citizens does business. Colleagues nominate co-workers or themselves for the award. One award is given in each state where Citizens has a presence.
