Citizens Bank supports student access to the arts with discount tickets
Saratoga Performing Arts Center partnership set for 2013 summer classical series
ALBANY, N.Y. (June 25, 2013) – Citizens Bank is once again offering middle, high school, and college students the Classical Season Student Discount Program in partnership with the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC).
Students with a valid student ID can experience New York City Ballet (excluding the Gala), The National Ballet of Canada, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, MOMIX and The Philadelphia Orchestra for only $10 for lawn seats and 25 percent off amphitheatre tickets.
"Affordability is a big concern for students and parents right now," said James P. Gaspo, President, RBS Citizens and Citizens Bank, New York. "This discount ticket program will help keep the arts accessible to young people, so they can experience the talents of great performers such as Yo-Yo Ma, as well as the visually and athletically inspirational performances of the ballet. With a shrinking budget for the arts and for arts education across the region, Citizens Bank is proud to help underwrite the summer classical series at SPAC to encourage and preserve cultural experiences for our youth."
This is the seventh year that Citizens Bank has partnered with SPAC to offer this discount ticket program.
This year’s SPAC Season presents dance performances that include New York City Ballet’s newest work Year of the Rabbit, choreographed by Justin Peck, along with Garland Dance, Serenade and other favorites.
The National Ballet of Canada will make its debut at SPAC in mid-July. The National Ballet of Canada brings the classic ballet Giselle to SPAC for the first time ever.
Other dance highlights include Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, performing one of their most acclaimed pieces Overglow, and MOMIX, a dance-illusionist company, is bringing their latest work Botanica to SPAC for one night only on August 1. With an eclectic score ranging from birdsong to Vivaldi, Botanica reveals nature's changing imagery with costumes, projections and custom-made props and puppetry adding an extra dose of fantasy to the elixir.
The Philadelphia Orchestra will perform with Yo-Yo Ma, Béla Fleck, Sarah Chang and other world renowned soloists. This year’s residency will feature performances, from Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring, to a Pops night and ending with the grand finale, Tschaikovsky Spectacular!
Citizens Bank Student Discount tickets may be purchased in person only at the SPAC box office.
