Citizens Bank celebrates grand re-opening of Westerly branch following Hurricane Sandy with Customer Appreciation Day and $7,500 donation to Jonnycake Center of Westerly
Westerly Branch festivities take place November 28, with financial workshops scheduled for December 1, 3 and 5
PROVIDENCE – To celebrate the re-opening of its branch in Westerly that had closed temporarily due to damage from Hurricane Sandy, Citizens Bank today announced a series of special customer events and additional support for the Westerly community as it recovers from the impact of Hurricane Sandy.
To thank customers for their patience as repairs were made to the branch, Citizens Bank has designated Wednesday, November 28 as “Westerly Customer Appreciation Day” for its branch located at 112 Franklin Street. The November 28 celebration includes refreshments, giveaways and a donation to the Jonnycake Center of Westerly. The branch also will host complimentary financial education workshops on December 1, 3 and 5.
The bank’s donation of $7,500 to the Jonnycake Center will directly support the Center’s efforts to help people get back on their feet. This support follows Citizens Bank’s offer of emergency lending and other support in communities impacted by the hurricane.
“The Westerly branch re-opened two weeks ago, but the effects of Hurricane Sandy are still widespread in this area, and we want to express to our customers that we are there for them as they continue to rebuild their lives,” said Ned Handy, President of Citizens Bank and RBS Citizens in Rhode Island and Connecticut. “Terrible events like this storm create opportunities for the community to come together, and we’re committed to continue working with our customers and our friends at the Jonnycake Center to help them complete their recovery.”
“The Jonnycake Center is so grateful to Citizens Bank for this support that will assist us in helping our neighbors who have suffered losses as a result of Hurricane Sandy,” said Elizabeth Pasqualini, Executive Director of the Jonnycake Center of Westerly. “These funds will help us address many diverse needs local residents are facing, and we appreciate Citizens Bank’s continued and exemplary support of the Jonnycake Center of Westerly and the community.”
Citizens Bank experts also will host three Financial Education Workshops on budgeting, retirement planning, and purchasing and refinancing a home. The one-hour seminars include:
- “Budgeting for a Better Life,” Saturday, December 1 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
- “Retirement Planning,” Monday, December 3 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- “Home Buying Essentials and Refinancing Your Home,” Wednesday, December 5 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The free workshops will be held at the Westerly branch. Customers are encouraged to reserve their place by calling the branch at 401-596-4945 and speaking with Rhonda Allegretto or Diana Zerbarini.
