Citizens Bank announces special preview night at the Palace Theatre on September 13 to kick off Citizens Bank Performing Arts Series
New Hampshire teachers invited to attend performance of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”
Manchester, N.H. Citizens Bank and the Palace Theatre have announced a special preview performance of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on September 13 at 7 p.m. to kick off the 2012-2013 Citizens Bank Performing Arts Series. To celebrate this performance, Citizens is offering free tickets to New Hampshire school teachers, administrators and staff as a way to honor the important role they play in educating youth.
According to the Palace, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a hilarious tale of overachievers’ angst. It follows six adolescent outsiders in the throes of puberty who are vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves. The students learn that winning is not everything and that losing does not necessarily make you a loser. The musical’s Broadway production won Tony awards in 2005 for best book and best performance.
“The Palace Theatre is thrilled to host this preview night for the community and, with the support of Citizens Bank, to extend this special offer to all New Hampshire teachers, staff and school administrators to enjoy this performance free of charge,” said Peter Ramsey, president of the Palace Theatre. “The successful and popular Citizens Bank Performing Arts Series has enabled us to bring award-winning performances to our stage for the entire community to enjoy. We are delighted to kick off the season with this preview show.”

Citizens Bank’s sponsorship of the Citizens Bank Performing Arts Series includes direct funding by Citizens Bank to the Palace Theatre, as well as in-kind services.
