Citizens Bank and WMUR-TV recognize Alan Robichaud as the "heart" of Laconia

"Heart of Your City" program on NH Chronicle highlights people making a difference in their communities

Manchester, N.H. (May 8, 2012) – Citizens Bank and WMUR-TV have named Alan Robichaud the "Heart of Your City" for his outstanding commitment to the city of Laconia. Robichaud’s story, which highlights the positive impact he has made in the community, will be featured on the program NH Chronicle on May 11.

Heart of Your City is a year-long partnership between Citizens Bank and WMUR-TV that recognizes people who are making good things happen in New Hampshire’s 13 cities. Each honoree is featured on NH Chronicle and on the Destination Downtown section of WMUR-TV’s website.

Robichaud is the Community Development Director of the Lakes Region United Way. In this role, he works with nonprofit agencies to combine their limited resources for maximum impact and to help individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency. He also works with government officials to shape legislation and policy in order to best address local issues.

"I love being able to help agencies work collectively and creatively to provide valuable services to our community," said Robichaud. "My proudest moments are seeing those connections positively affect the lives of people in need who are able to turn that assistance into a more promising, self-sustaining future."

Robichaud is also involved with several local nonprofit organizations. He serves on the board of directors for the Lakes Region Partnership for Public Health and is the chair of the Lakes Region Community College Advisory Committee. He also serves on the Better Together Steering Committee, the Creating Assets Savings and Hope (CASH) Coalition and the 200 x 2020 workforce development initiative. The last seeks to engage 200 Lakes Region businesses in a full array of school-to-career services with Lakes Region school districts by 2020.

"Alan is a true asset and champion to our Lakes Region communities," said Joe Carelli, President, Citizens Bank, New Hampshire. "His work with the United Way has helped to strengthen those neighborhoods and the people who live in them by creating unique solutions to address local issues. We are proud to work with WMUR-TV to showcase people like Alan and the tremendous work they do in our New Hampshire communities."

"Alan’s spirit and drive to improve the lives of others is limitless," said Lisa Morris, Executive Director of the Lakes Region Partnership for Public Health. "He strongly believes in the power of partnership for creating better outcomes and his influence is unassuming but extremely significant. Alan is my mentor and my friend. He is incredibly deserving of this honor."

Other New Hampshire towns to be featured in the "Heart of Your City" program are Claremont, Dover, Lebanon, Manchester, Nashua, Portsmouth, Rochester and Somersworth. Cities that have already been highlighted include Berlin, Concord, Franklin and Keene.

Nominations for Heart of Your City will be accepted throughout the year. If you would like to nominate an individual or group for this honor, please visit the WMUR website: www.wmur.com/destination-downtown.
