Citizens Bank invites Phillies fans to celebrate the Phillie Phanatic’s Birthday
Fans invited to sign the Phillie Phanatic’s birthday card in-person and virtually using the #Phanaticbday hashtag; fans 14 and under to receive free Phanatic banks at April 29 game
PHILADELPHIA (April 24, 2012) - Citizens Bank, Official Bank of the Phillies, invites Phillies fans to join in the celebration of the Phillie Phanatic’s birthday through a series of special activities this week. The Phillie Phanatic made his debut at Veterans Stadium 34 years ago on April 25, 1978.
“The Phillie Phanatic is an icon in the Philadelphia sports scene, and is recognized as one of the most beloved mascots in all of sports,” said Daniel K. Fitzpatrick, President & CEO of Citizens Bank and RBS Citizens for Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. “He has delighted fans and cheered on the team for the past 34 years. We are excited to sponsor his celebration, and we encourage Phillies fans to help make this his best birthday yet.”
Fans are invited to visit several locations to sign an oversized birthday card, which will be presented to the Phillie Phanatic before his birthday celebration game on Sunday, April 29. Signing locations include:

One card signer from this location will be selected to throw out the first pitch at the Phanatic’s birthday celebration on Sunday, April 29.

The birthday game on April 29, 2012, includes a series of special surprises and activities in tribute to the Phanatic, including the presentation of the signed card. Trivia questions about the Phillie Phanatic will be featured on the Citizens Bank Phan Trivia Challenge in Ashburn Alley. Fans attending the game can participate for free.
