Citizens Bank and WMUR-TV recognize Sylvia Poulin as “heart” of Berlin
Heart of Your City program on NH Chronicle highlights people throughout the state who are making a difference in their community
New Hampshire (February 15, 2012) – Citizens Bank and WMUR-TV have named Sylvia Poulin as this month’s Heart of Your City for her outstanding commitment to the city of Berlin. Poulin’s story, which highlights the positive impact she has made in the community, was featured on NH Chronicle on February 14.
Heart of Your City is a year-long partnership between Citizens Bank and WMUR-TV that profiles people who are making good things happen in New Hampshire’s thirteen cities. Each honoree is featured on NH Chronicle and on the Destination Downtown section of WMUR-TV’s website. Sylvia Poulin and Berlin are the first to be featured in this series.
“Sylvia’s energy and selfless dedication truly contributes to the vitality of downtown Berlin and is appreciated by the entire community,” said Pam Laflamme, Berlin city planner.
Poulin, former owner of the successful downtown business Hall of Greetings, co-founded the Berlin Main Street program and continues to chair its board of directors. Through this program, Poulin helped design an economic strategy to revamp business and tourism in downtown Berlin. She works tirelessly on projects to beautify the city and helps coordinate events throughout the year to celebrate all that Berlin has to offer its citizens and visitors.
Her nomination letters described her as the “heart and soul” of Berlin and the “glue that keeps things together in downtown.”
“Sylvia is an inspiring example of what good citizenship is all about,” said Joe Carelli, President, Citizens Bank, New Hampshire. “In New Hampshire, we are fortunate to have people and organizations that are very committed to demonstrating passion for our state every day. We are very proud to work with WMUR-TV to showcase them and the positive work that they do in our communities.”
The other New Hampshire towns to be featured in the Heart of Your City program are Claremont, Concord, Dover, Franklin, Keene, Laconia, Lebanon, Manchester, Nashua, Portsmouth, Rochester and Somersworth.
Nominations for Heart of Your City will be accepted throughout the year. If you would like to nominate an individual or group for this honor, please visit www.wmur.com/destination-downtown.
