Citizens Bank Foundation awards $35,000 grant to Local Initiatives Support Corporation
BOSTON (December 11, 2012) – The Citizens Bank Foundation announced today that it has awarded a $35,000 grant to Local Initiatives Support Corporate (LISC) of Boston to support its Resilient Communities/Resilient Families program for the Dorchester, Mattapan and Roxbury communities of Boston.
As part of the program, LISC has engaged residents of the three neighborhoods to conduct 261 meetings with a goal of enhancing community and family resilience. Results have included:
- Development of neighborhood coalitions;
- Deployment of action groups;
- Creation of community contracts;
- Ongoing work toward addressing affordable housing needs;
- Ongoing development of creative solutions for meeting basic human needs; and
- Ongoing revitalization of economically distressed areas.
